Still waiting for a Lockheed Constelation set…!
The reason the book states that this colour scheme is so iconic is that it was Pan Am's livery through most of its history. Even if it wasn't as common on the DC-3, Pan Am's grey, white, and blue is one of the most recognizable aircraft liveries. As for the kit itself? Absolutely gorgeous and I hope Lego does more of this!
I'm a plane enthusiast (mostly military) and although the DC-3 isn't one of my favorites i do think it's very iconic for historical aviation. Considering it's military counterpart was the C-47. Which undoubtedly helped win WW2. I could easily see builders replace these white, gray and blue bricks with green and brown and recreate C-47s with it. Overall it looks like a great model I'd enjoy having

I’m suprisized that nobody catches this yet but the piece count for this set is another Easter egg, there is 1903 pieces in this set and the first plane took off at December 17 1903. Love that Lego hid this in this set
The Pan American Plane from Indiana Jones we deserve... finally !
Tiago - like the book states, yes, the aluminum non-painted version was most common, but the blue/grey/white livery is *100%* the standard pseudo-nostalgic colorway for PanAm's DC-3 that we aviation geeks love!
2:41 as a commercial aviation fan, no, we don't. The blue stripe livery has always been the first thing that comes to mind when we think of Pan-Am, so seeing this absolute legend of an aircraft in the blue stripe livery is really amazing
