Dude! I had no idea you designed the OG gingerbread house, I picked it up ASAP when it came out and keep it on my shelf year-round! Love it!!
I was 100% expecting it to be open back. That was a nice surprise.
They should do more buildings like this - small, foldable, lightly detailed, with varied designs and on the cheaper side. The sometimes drop them in the 3-in-1 line, but I think such houses should be a staple in every lego year, and that there should be multiples of them.
i’m always impressed with the cute details that they put into the dollhouse style builds, even in the smaller and simpler builds!
Very nice review, it is a very cute model and a fun way to do a yearly gingerbread house if you don't want to get sticky from the actual icing and candy. My gingerbread houses never hold together anyways, maybe with this one at least it would stay together.
i was about to start buying the supplies needed to build a small graham cracker gingerbread house for Christmas this year but immediately cancelled those plans when i saw this Lego gingerbread house set. its the perfect size and i know i will enjoy building it compared to the messy icing that doesn't always cooperate.
I overall like it. It's got enough detail to be interesting and it's not huge. Space is becoming a factor for me. Also, sometimes simple is best, particularly after several more complex gingerbread houses.
The 10+ age rating on seems high to me. The building techniques look very simple and I think it would be a younger kid that would be interested in playing with it like a doll house. That said, I imagine that LEGO wanted it detailed enough to also appeal to adults who collect for their Winter Village. Makes me curious as to how age ratings work at LEGO, and when they’re set, and how the designers adjust for it.
