I have a 'regular' brick house in the Netherlands. Built in 1896. Flooded, bombed, shot at. Still standing. 🤣
We, in the UK have buildings like this made of wood with a felt roof. We call them sheds, for our gardening tools
In Europe roof tiles are usually made out of clay, slate or simply concrete
Our buildings are made to last. My local pub is older than your country.
Ceramic roof tiles. The cheapest ones come with a 30-year warranty. The standard warranty is 50 years.
Our church was built in 654AD (not 1654, 654, nearly 1400 years ago). Its built from bricks looted from a Roman Villa.
In my parents house ( that was made in medieval ages) walls are made of granite that is about a meter thick. Sure we can't install air conditioning , but the house stays cool in summer and keep the warm during winter.
3:17 I read about a German living in tornado alley. He had his house built with brick, standard European stuff. A tornado hit and his house was the only one still standing, largely undamaged. So I don't get the "because natural disasters" You would build houses _stronger_ in that case. There's a reason Tokyo was rebuilt with brick after WW2
