I am an American woman who lived in Northern Germany for 10 years before moving to Sweden to marry my Swedish husband. While I lived in Germany I would go out several times a week for breakfast. 27 years later I STILL MISS those breakfasts! Fresh Brötchen with liver worst and pickles, or crab salad or the tiny shrimp caught daily and served fresh. Oh my….
Back in the 1970's, German youth hostels were offering cheese slices, cold cut meats, dark bread slices and white round buns for breakfast. Some offered also Muesli. I loved those.
My step mom was a German. I grew up in Bad Tolz, in Bavaria. My dad was US Army. I had Brotchen for breakfast, almost everyday. Usually with Jelly and Butter. We also had German Bread (Bauern Brot) and butter with every dinner meal, on a separate bread plate. In the winter, we had Cream of Wheat or Oatmeal for Breakfast. On Sundays, my dad made breakfast for the family, when he was home. Bacon and Eggs, or Ham & Eggs, sometimes with fried potatoes & onions. Back in the 1950's he use to make "special sandwiches" for breakfast. Canadian Bacon (round, from a can) on English Muffins, with cheese and a a poached egg. What does that remind you of? Yep...a McDonald's Egg Mc Muffin. I always said, my dad invented them. Ha! Loved growing up in Germany! Loved your videos. new Subscriber!
I LOVE smoked and or cured fish ANYTIME!!! Fresh grilled trout, eggs and potatoes!!! I thought I had died and gone to heaven in Holland with all the fish there!!! Breakfast, lunch and dinner!!! Smoked, pickled, cured fish!!!!

Loved going to the bakery early in the morning when I lived in Germany. Fresh rolls, cheese, sliced meat and eggs. Oh, it takes me back. So good.
