Yeungling is America's oldest brewery. Interesting fact: Budweiser used to have an eagle on a barrel as it's logo and they brought suit against Yeungling to have them remove their eagle on a barrel from the label, claiming it was a trademark of Budweiser. Yeungling said, bring it on, and they prevailed in court, proving that they have used it before Budweiser was even in business. Yeungling then counter sued and won, forcing Bud to remove the eagle on a barrel, AND won damages for every can/bottle/carton sold from that date forward with the eagle on it Of course, you cant remove all product and change labels overnight, so Bud had to pay millions to Yeungling, who used it to purchase more production capacity and expanded their market from a local PA. brewer to a major regional brewer

As an American (who lived in Germany for four years), you seem to have done a taste test of all the worst we have to offer. Those beers were really popular in the 80s when the US was big into mass produced, cheap, low calorie foods and drinks. They remain popular because they’re cheap and they get the job done. Yuengling is an exception, and so is Blue Moon. Craft beer is where it’s at today, and we have a lot of good options comparable with German stalwarts. You just aren’t likely to pick it up at a gas station.

Yuengling was started with a German Brew master and is America’s oldest brewery. I worked with a German Company from Dresden and they loved Yuengling.
