German & American try AUSTRALIAN SNACKS & CANDY for the First Time! (*Vegemite reaction*)

As an Aussie I love watching you enjoy some of my favourite snack foods. My brother-in-law, who now lives in the US, has been home here for the past couple of weeks and he has literally packed an entire suitcase with many of the same snacks.

The only Australian food I had were Tim Tams. Afterwards I learned about the Tim Tam Slam where you bite off the opposite ends and drink a hot beverage through it.

Fantastic to see you guys review those Aussie snacks, particularly the Vegemite. Vegemite is a yeast extract that is actually a biproduct of beer production. Like Germans, Aussies love their beer, so Vegemite is a real favourite, too. Vegemite on toast with butter and a slice of cheese tastes great. We can add Vegemite to soups, stews and we put it in hamburger mince to enhance flavour! Tim Tams are great and I keep them in the fridge, you can also dunk them in coffee or suck cold milk through the biscuit. They come in a huge variety of styles. Another snack food are cheezels, which are short cheese powdered tubes. Australians also like hot meat pies with tomato ketchup or served with mushy peas and gravy. In South Australia they eat a pie in a thick pea soup, called a pie floater. Love your YouTube show and watch it every Saturday when a new episode drops. Keep working on your Aussie accents, you have a way to go. Phil sounded more Aussie when he was trying to do a Southern USA drawl. My wife and I will be in Germany in June, starting in Mannheim and heading north in a motor home up to Denmark, Sweden and Norway. This will be our 5th holiday to Germany. having a soup broth paste on a toast can't be bad. something i should try at some point in my life.

G'day As a Aussie I can confirm Vegemite is used as broth Use in stews As a kid we used it as soup Table spoon in hot water mix until liquid Buttered bread cut in strip's called soldiers You'd dip thm in pull out before dissolves eat Or just stuff them into the cup of Vegemite soup Let it suck up the juices then used spoon or fork To get out of cup eat But it's been used in different types of gravey like in meat pies Has multiple uses Basically the reason vitamins and salty tasted is because extremely hot here you sweat heaps So it put back vitamins and salts you losted day beforehand and why generally breakfast But Aussie's eat it anytime just as a snack on bread and was a staple school lunch box meal As weather did effect it hot or cold never get food poisoning from it It's very common in major of Aussie homes But probably not as popular with the younger generation now In my time everyone ate it Also you can do it on butter toast or fresh bread and use a creamy cheese slice usually but spread are available But slice I find easier as you can control the ammount of Vegemite better on cheese slice if to much it'll scrap of Another one you may like to try seeing you like jelly/ jam as we call it Is same type of cheese creamy on one jam / jelly on other put together It's like having jam / jelly with cream Jam / jelly on toast with cream was another breakfast meal with cuppa tea or coffee As youngster mine was tea as my granny was English and it's the poorer way As English would use a scone in this manner but bread cheaper and easier Especially when you made everything from butter cream bread ect We got taught how to make butter also cream as kids You couldn't get any fresher out the cow in morning butter cream by arvo / afternoon But unfortunately all disappearing now as corporations taken over and make it cheaper then buy the ingredients Solely because the bulk they buy makes it even hard to get the raw ingredients now Everything was baked or cooked on a wood stove even toastering bread gave it a unique smoke flavour I think we where lucky growing up then hard but good knew all your food fresh have own crooks eggs and meat ones Rabbit hunter used to sell there catches cheap already to cook Go out into fields collect mushrooms all homes grew own fruit so seasonal Again made our own jam / jelly to preserve until next season same with sauces all made from vegetable We relied on very little and didn't require lots of money back then Hence went without a lot as well and this was city living in suburbs You look a lovely couple on same wave length care for each other Those sprinkle on the chocolate you can buy in a bag We'd butter bread put sprinkles on a plate put butter bread face down Then lift turn up cut into 4 triangles This was standard kids party food With pie pasties Sausage rolls in puff pantry Where mini versions for parties Back when I was young not alot of money Or sweets like chocolate lollies as costed So most stuff was made by families for birthday party's Cheers guys 🦘🇦🇺👍
